Genie S-45 Stuck in Slow Drive Speed With Boom Stowed
Fault Codes & Symptoms
Machine will only drive in slow (creep) speed, regardless of boom position. Related symptoms: - Inability to select high drive speed - No-start condition if boom is not stowed (on some models) The operator reports the machine is stuck in slow speed and is not productive for driving across the job site.
Confirmed cause: The plunger for the boom retract limit switch was physically damaged and stuck, preventing it from making contact internally when the boom was retracted. Repair performed: Replaced the boom retract limit switch. Adjusted the new switch to ensure proper activation when the boom is fully retracted. Verification: With the new switch installed and the boom fully retracted, the machine could be switched into high drive speed from the platform controls. Driving the machine confirmed normal travel speed. Raising the boom correctly caused the machine to revert to slow speed. Technician notes: - This fault can be intermittent if the switch plunger is binding. A small piece of debris was found inside the old switch, which may have caused the initial failure. - Always verify the switch adjustment after installation. The activation point is critical for both safety and function.
