Manitou MRT 2150 Stabilizers Will Not Retract

Fault Codes & Symptoms

No active codes

Stabilizers will not retract Related symptoms: - Inability to move the machine (drive is disabled when stabilizers are down). - Stabilizer warning light or message may be active. The stabilizers are stuck down. We finished the lift and now we can't retract them to move the machine. The engine is running and there are no other known problems.

Verified Repair

Confirmed cause: Internal failure of the stabilizer retract pilot solenoid valve. The electrical coil was functioning, but the internal plunger was seized and did not open to allow pilot pressure to shift the main valve spool. Repair performed: Replaced the stabilizer retract pilot solenoid valve assembly. The hydraulic system was bled of any air introduced during the repair. Verification: With the engine running, activated the stabilizer retract function from the control panel. All four stabilizers retracted smoothly and completely. The machine could then be driven and all other systems functioned as expected. Technician notes: - The failed solenoid coil was receiving power, which could be misleading. Hearing the coil buzz is a good clue, but it doesn't guarantee the valve is mechanically opening. - Confirming the absence of pilot pressure was the key diagnostic step that isolated the problem to the pilot circuit. - Always ensure the machine is properly configured for stabilizer operation before diagnosing. An incorrect machine state (e.g., boom angle) can inhibit stabilizer functions as a safety feature.
