JCB 3CX Low Pressure On All Hydraulic Functions

Fault Codes & Symptoms

No active codes

Low Hydraulic Pressure - All Functions Related symptoms: - Slow hydraulic operation - Weak hydraulic force - Machine unable to lift rated loads The machine is weak and slow on all hydraulic functions, both the loader and the backhoe. It struggles to lift a full bucket and is much slower than it used to be.

Verified Repair

Confirmed cause: The hydraulic pump stroke control solenoid was confirmed to be failed electrically open. Repair performed: Replaced the pump stroke control solenoid. The new solenoid was installed and torqued to the manufacturer's specification. Verification: After repair, a pressure gauge was connected to the main test port. Stalling a hydraulic function now resulted in pressure readings that met the manufacturer's service specification. All loader and backhoe functions operated with normal speed and power. Technician notes: - This machine uses a variable displacement pump with electronic stroke control. A correct standby pressure can be misleading, as it does not test the pump's ability to upstroke under load. - Always check the electrical control side of the pump before condemning a major component like the pump itself. A simple solenoid or wiring issue can mimic a complete pump failure. - The main relief valve was tested to eliminate it as a cause. Ruling out simpler, global components first is a critical diagnostic step.
