Takeuchi TL12R2 Parking Brake Stuck On
Fault Codes & Symptoms
Parking brake will not release Related symptoms: - Intermittent operation of the parking brake. - Machine may move sluggishly as if brakes are partially applied. The operator reports the machine will not move and the parking brake indicator remains on, even after the switch is pressed.
Confirmed cause: Failed (open) diode for the parking brake solenoid circuit located within the main chassis wiring harness. The diode is intended to prevent voltage spikes but had failed, creating high resistance in the circuit. Repair performed: Located and exposed the faulty inline diode in the chassis harness. Spliced in a new diode with the correct rating and polarity. Wrapped the splice with adhesive-lined heat shrink for protection. Verification: With the repair complete, started the machine and engaged the parking brake release switch. The parking brake disengaged immediately, and the machine could travel normally. Cycled the switch multiple times to confirm consistent operation. Technician notes: - The inline diode was located in the harness near the main control valve. Refer to the schematic to confirm the exact location. - This failure mode can be intermittent at first as the diode begins to fail. - Always verify diode polarity during installation. Installing it backward will block current flow entirely.
