Short battery life / runtime Related symptoms: - Sluggish hydraulic functions - Low voltage alarms - Charger taking longer or shorter than usual to complete a cycle The lift only runs for a few hours before the low voltage alarm sounds and functions are disabled. It used to run a full shift.
Confirmed cause: One of the deep-cycle batteries had an internal failure, causing its capacity to be near zero. This battery would accept a surface charge but would collapse under any significant load, bringing the entire pack voltage down with it. Repair performed: Replaced all deep-cycle batteries as a matched set. Verified the new batteries were of the correct type and capacity as specified by the manufacturer. Verification: After a full charge cycle on the new battery set, the machine was operated under normal conditions for a full shift. Battery voltage remained stable and runtime was restored. Technician notes: - It is recommended to replace deep-cycle batteries as a complete, matched set to ensure even charging and discharging. - Always verify the charger is configured for the correct battery type (e.g., AGM vs. Flooded Lead-Acid). - A quick voltage check is not sufficient to determine battery health; a load test is required to confirm capacity.
