John Deere 331G Frequent Parked DPF Regeneration Requests
Fault Codes & Symptoms
Frequent requests for parked regeneration Related symptoms: - Increased fuel consumption - Slight engine roughness at idle The machine is constantly asking for a parked regen, sometimes multiple times per day. The operator is losing a lot of working time.
Confirmed cause: A single fuel injector was leaking, causing over-fueling to that cylinder which cooled combustion and lowered overall exhaust gas temperatures. Repair performed: Replaced the faulty fuel injector and its associated seals. Performed an injector calibration procedure using the manufacturer's diagnostic software. Verification: Operated the machine under load for several hours while monitoring DPF soot load and EGTs. Exhaust temperatures returned to the normal range, and the machine did not request a parked regeneration during the verification period. Technician notes: - A small injector leak might not cause noticeable symptoms like smoke or power loss. - Low EGTs during normal operation are a key indicator that something is preventing efficient combustion. - Always re-check soot load and EGTs after a repair like this to confirm the root cause is resolved.
