Wacker Neuson EZ26 Stalls on Slopes
Fault Codes & Symptoms
Engine dies when machine is tilted Related symptoms: - Engine hard to start - Engine runs rough - Low engine power The machine runs fine on level ground, but after a few minutes of working on a grade, the engine sputters and dies. It will restart after sitting level for a while.
Confirmed cause: The rubber grommet for the fuel pickup tube assembly on the top of the fuel tank was hardened and cracked, allowing air to enter the fuel system when the fuel level shifted away from the pickup area on a slope. Repair performed: Removed the fuel tank. Replaced the fuel pickup assembly grommet and O-ring. Reinstalled the fuel tank. Verification: The machine was returned to the same slope and operated for 15 minutes facing both uphill and downhill with no engine performance issues. Technician notes: - The leak was only apparent under light pressure. A visual inspection alone did not reveal the faulty grommet. - Accessing the top of the fuel tank required tilting the cab and removing the floor plate assembly. - This fault could also be caused by a crack in the plastic pickup tube itself.
