Skyjack SJ3219 No Lift or Drive After Pressure Washing

Fault Codes & Symptoms

No active codes

No response to lift or drive commands. Related symptoms: - Intermittent loss of function - Fault codes related to loss of communication with specific modules - Erratic operation The operator reports that the machine was working fine yesterday, but after it was pressure washed, it will not lift or drive. The controls on the platform do not respond.

Verified Repair

Confirmed cause: The chassis-mounted CAN bus terminating resistor had failed due to water intrusion. The connector housing had a damaged seal, which allowed water from the pressure washer to enter, corroding the pins and damaging the internal resistor. Repair performed: Replaced the faulty CAN bus terminating resistor. The connector pins on the harness side were cleaned and dried before the new resistor was installed. Verification: After replacing the resistor and powering on the machine, all lift and drive functions operated correctly from both the platform and ground controls. The CAN bus resistance was re-checked with the power off and confirmed to be within the manufacturer's specification. Technician notes: - Pressure washing can easily force water past weathered connector seals. - A high resistance reading on a CAN network often points to a missing terminating resistor. This can be the resistor itself, or a break in the wiring to it. - Always check both terminating resistors. One is typically at each physical end of the main CAN backbone.
