Terex TL80 Reverse Alarm and Lights Inoperative
Fault Codes & Symptoms
Reverse alarm and reverse lights do not activate Related symptoms: - Backup alarm inoperative - Reverse lights inoperative The backup alarm isn't working and neither are the reverse lights when the operator selects reverse.
Confirmed cause: The normally-open reverse switch on the transmission was mechanically failed and would not close when reverse was selected. Repair performed: Replaced the reverse switch on the transmission. Drained a small amount of transmission oil to perform the swap, then topped off fluid to the correct level. Verification: With the new switch installed, started the machine and selected reverse. The reverse alarm and reverse lights activated immediately and functioned correctly. Technician notes: - This is a simple normally-open switch. When reverse is selected, a shift rail physically actuates the switch, closing the circuit. - Always check the easy stuff first. Jumpering the switch connector is a quick way to isolate the problem to the switch or the harness. - The switch can be located and tested in a few minutes without any major disassembly.
