Kubota KX080-4 Dozer Blade Drift — Diagnostic Guide

The front grader dozer blade drops down to the ground slowly of its own accord when raised, or starts to tilt on one side when grading soil.

Symptoms

  • Dozer blade drifts to the ground over several hours when raised
  • Inability to hold grade backfill pressure when leveling soil
  • Hydraulic angle feature drifts slightly out of position during travel
  • Slight groaning sound inside the dozer circuit valve

Diagnostic Procedure

    Fully raise the dozer blade, support it on heavy blocking blocks, and secure the machine. Turn the engine off and relieve system pressure. Disconnect the return line hose from the cylinder rod end, block the line, and apply pressure to the cylinder cap end. Check for oil leaking past the internal seals out of the open port.

    Examine and Clean Load Hold Check Valves
    Locate the check valves on the blade control valve block. Remove the valve cap, spring, and internal check poppet. Clean out any metal shavings or sand, and inspect the machined mating seat for scratches or pits.

    Test system relief pressure by bottoming out the blade tilt circuit. Ensure the pressure meets the specified 3200 psi; a low reading indicates a weak or damaged circuit relief valve.

    Perform Pilot Control Line Verification
    Check the blade control levers in the cab for neutral play. Verify that the pilot return lines do not retain trapped backpressure, which could trigger slight spool movement.
