The DPF warning light is flashing or stays solid on the instrument panel, and active parked or automatic regeneration cycles do not initiate or fail to complete.
Symptoms
- Regeneration failure error display on dashboard

- Excessive exhaust backpressure and black smoke
Possible Causes
- Faulty soot sensor or DPF differential pressure sensor
- Damaged, clogged, or leaking pressure sensor tubes
- Internal soot overload requiring manual/professional cleaning
- Failed diesel exhaust fluid injector or bad diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC)
Diagnostic Procedure
- 1Retrieve Diagnostic Trouble CodesConnect a diagnostic scan tool to the OBD port or use the dashboard screen to display active fault codes related to the SCR system or DPF soot load levels.
- 2Inspect Differential Pressure Sensor LinesLocate the metal tubes running from the exhaust pipe to the differential pressure sensor. Check for rust, cracks, soot blockage, and physical damage, and clear blockages using low-pressure compressed air.
- 3Verify Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) SensorsUse a digital multimeter or scan tool live data to verify that EGT sensors show plausible temperature readings. If a sensor reports ambient temperature while the engine is hot, it must be replaced.
- 4Initiate Parked Regeneration ProcessConfirm safety lock-outs are correct: machine in neutral, parking brake engaged, coolant temperature above 65C, and engine at idle speed. Initiate the regeneration cycle via the dashboard process.
