JLG 600AJ Platform Footswitch Interlock Malfunction

Symptoms

• Platform controls have power (display is ON), but joystick inputs do not move the machine
• System alerts with a continuous alarm or specific flash code when footswitch is depressed
• Engine cuts out when the footswitch is stepped on
• Work light/display shows footswitch inactive despite being pressed

Possible Causes

• Debris or mud packed under the mechanical actuator plate of the footswitch
• Failed internal microswitch or loose wiring terminals inside the footswitch enclosure
• Misaligned actuator lever or broken return spring inside the foot pedal assembly
• Open circuit or short circuit in the boom cable track wiring harness routing up to the platform

Diagnostic Procedure

   De-energize the machine and physically inspect underneath the platform foot pedal. Clear out any packed dirt, ice, or stones that prevent full travel of the pedal plate.
