JLG 600AJ Platform Jib Function Non-Responsive Diagnostics

Symptoms

• Platform jib toggle switches have zero effect on physical movement
• Jib cylinders do not creep or drift, but remain totally locked
• Hydraulic relief system does not load when the jib rocker switch is held down
• Platform console diagnostic lights display active switch block codes

Possible Causes

• Failed mechanical double-throw toggle switch inside platform control dash panel
• Broken power or return ground conductor in structural cable run tracking up neck of jib
• Jib functions direction spool valve stuck internally with small hydraulic particulates
• Failed counterbalance lock valve cartridge on the jib actuator cylinder

Diagnostic Procedure

   Test Toggle Switch Contacts at Platform Box

   Disconnect battery. Open the platform control panel cover switch layout. Measure switch continuity during toggling of the JIB position switch (up/down). Swap with adjacent working basket rotation toggle to isolate switch housing.

   Check Platform-End Solenoid Juntion Outputs

   Find the localized manifold box near the platform support neck. Use your multimeter to back-probe the harness pinout of the jib directional solenoid valve while holding down the platform footswitch and toggling jib commands.

   Measure System Pressure Output during Jib Commands

   Install pressure gauge to the main manifold test port. Run jib function. System pressure should register around 2500-2800 psi. If pressure builds but zero movement occurs, look for mechanical block or failed cylinder seals.

   Inspect Counterbalance Lock Valves on Jib Cylinder

   Carefully remove the safety lock/counterbalance cartridges mounted directly on the barrels of the jib lift cylinders. Inspect seats, blow clean with cleaning spray, reinstall and re-test for travel.
