John Deere 320D Skid Steer Weak Auxiliary Hydraulics Diagnostic

The auxiliary hydraulic circuit lacks speed and pressure, making attachments such as augers or sweepers stall easily. Main arm lift and tilt functions may also feel sluggish under maximum load.

Symptoms

  • Squealing hydraulic relief noise from control valve area

Possible Causes

Diagnostic Procedure

    Check Quick-Coupler Integrity and Flow Blockage
    Disconnect auxiliary lines, clean flat-face couplers, and inspect for internal ball-check damage. Test flow with a known good attachment directly connected to rule out coupler restriction.

    Install a 5,000 psi gauge inline with the auxiliary circuit. Engage relief flow at high idle and verify specification reads between 3,100 and 3,300 psi. If pressure is low, adjust relief valve.

    Connect a flow meter in-line. Run hydraulic fluid to operating temp (50-60C). Record flow at minimum and maximum system load to calculate pump volumetric efficiency. Efficiencies below 80% indicate worn gears/plates.

    Check the pilot pressure manifold line. Ensure pilot pressure to the main control block spool is sustained at a minimum of 450 psi during auxiliary actuation.
