JLG 600AJ Ground Control Emergency Stop Circuit Malfunction

Symptoms

• Machine power dead with emergency stop warning screen continuously displayed
• Engine will not crank from either control station
• System alerts log active fault code 2-1 or 2-2 related to standard safety bus input
• Intermittent system shutdowns occur when the turntable turns or rotates

Possible Causes

• Broken or physically cracked contact blocks behind the Ground or Platform E-stop buttons
• Corroded pins inside the main turntable collector ring (preventing continuous circuit current)
• Open wiring harness ground short inside the boom cat-track or structural joints
• Frayed or loose terminal wires inside the primary ground control terminal board

Diagnostic Procedure

   Perform Switch Contact Resistance Checks

   Disconnect system battery. Access contact terminals at the back of the Ground E-Stop button and Platform E-Stop button. Measure switch resistance across contacts; it must read near 0 Ohms when pulled OUT, and absolute infinity when pushed IN.

   Measure E-Stop Loop Input Voltage

   Reconnect battery. Power key switch ON. Probe the input voltage feeding the Platform E-Stop button. Confirm there is a steady 12V DC feed. Trace voltage out through the emergency loop wire lines.

   Troubleshoot Turf Collector (Slip) Ring Continuity

   On rotating turntable models, the E-Stop loop passes through the core rotary collector ring. Place a meter on both sides of the collector ring terminals. Shake structural chassis components to test for dynamic contact drops.

   Perform E-Stop Junction Jumper Test to Isolate Harness

   Using standard safety protocols, temporary jump out the E-Stop return line at the ground master control module terminal block. If the system boots up and operates, the open circuit is confirmed to be in the routing harness to the platform.
